A Movie Night That Involves Thinking?

It has been a really interesting couple of months in Hard Rock, our Thursday night high school youth group, as we've been walking through our Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll series. We've been able to focus on these urgently relevant issues with asking big questions, digging into the Bible for God's thoughts, and talking out our thoughts and experiences in small groups.

Which has brought us to an exciting and crazy plan for tomorrow night at Hard Rock
Hard Rock Movie Night
Feb 7 | 6:15-9:00pm
The Hunger Games

As we've been looking at our entertainment experiences and choices in the Rock & Roll part of this series, we have been using the 3(d) Process from The Center for Parent Youth Understanding to look deeply into music, movies, websites, ads, and the like to see what they mean and how they effect us.

So tomorrow night we are having a Hard Rock Movie Night from 6:15-9:00pm where are going to watch The Hunger Games together and then going to walk
through the 3(d) process to discover, discern, and decide what this movie is really all about.

We'll attempt to discover what it says about life and why it is attractive to us. We'll discern how what it says about life matches up with what Jesus says about life. And we'll decide whether it is worthwhile for us personally or for understanding the world around us.

We're excited and wanted to give you a heads up about what we're doing so we can all start thinking a little more deeply about what we watch, why we watch it, and how it shapes us.
