MEET OUR NEW INTERN

Noah and I are so excited to welcome Garen to the Student Ministry Team this summer. We had a lot of amazing candidates but in the end the Lord led us to Garen.
He brings a fresh perspective, great ideas, and a tremendous heart for God and for connecting others to him. Feel free to drop by the office this summer ( he will be working at the cube-outside our office), call him Ext. 319 , or pester him on Sundays!!

Two Ladies on a Mission

It’s an exciting time in student ministries where we get to be a part of sending students/leaders out on mission. Two of our very own will be travelling this summer on mission’s trips and we wanted to encourage you to get involved. The first thing you can do it pray for Candice Brandenburg who will be travelling to Guatemala for a medical missions trip this summer and Gracie Ankcorn who will be Nagaland, India to work in an orphanage for 2weeks. Both these ladies need to raise funds for their trip so we would like to take a special offering over the next few weeks. We will have an offering bucket at the podium and will designate a special Sunday in June to pray for both Candice/Gracie.
They will be both sharing on June 19th about their trips!! Come hear their stories and pray for them.

India

" Jen and Gracie Ankcorn are planning on participating in a missions trip to Nagaland, India this summer, to help tutor kids in reading, writing and math at the Morning Star Orphanage. This is part of an organization called Project Love and Care. In order for them to fly there, they need your support with raising money. Please visit: https://www.youcaring.com/projectloveandcaremissionstripsupport for more information, and donations. Just remember its for a good cause, and donating a couple dollars can go a long way. "

Guatemala
My Trip is Oct 1st—8th to Guatemala.  I need to raise around (cost of airfare pending for final cost) $2850 by Sept 1st. I’ve either paid or raised half of that and have a fundraiser Friday (wine tasting so I can’t invite the kids).  Attached are some photos.  I even have a Picture of me and Gracie together (with Shelda).
Details re trip below as are Bio for me. Not sure what exactly you needed.

Orphan Outreach is a non-profit Christian organization based out of Texas with the mission “dedicated to glorifying the Lord through reaching out to the millions of at risk children throughout the world.”  My team currently consists of 13 of us, mostly nurses and doctors.  We are going to Santiago Atilan, Cerro De Oro in Guatemala.  I will be gone for 8 days.  We will run medical clinics during the day and do children’s ministry in the evenings with a local church.

UNICEF estimates that are over 370,000 orphans in Guatemala. Many of these children come from families facing extreme poverty; 70 percent of people in Guatemala live below the poverty level. Orphan Outreach ministers in Guatemala by partnering with local orphanages, churches, and Christian schools for children in extreme poverty situations. They also make it a priority to come alongside the Guatemalan nationals and work with them as they serve their own people.

Candice Brandenburg- I am a pediatric RN, married to Don Wong and step mom to Brandon and Matthew Wong. We’ve been at KCC for 7 years.  I currently am a Hard Rock leader.  I’ve been on other mission trips (China with the KCC team and Detroit with the KCC high schoolers), but this will be my first Medical Mission trip.

Welcome 8th Graders

8th Grade Transition

Tonight we kicked off our transition with our new 8th grade students! We started the off with dinner...it was a great chance to get to know our new students by getting to know one another. We then split up the night talking with the 8th grade parents while playing games in the student center. It was pretty wild playing egg toss with that many high school students, mystery buckets, and a giant game of fish bowl. Great night had by all.

For those who couldn't make it here's a little info to help in the transition.
